“‘For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”

1 Corinthians 2:16
As a police chaplain, I’ve spent many hours training with officers for various scenarios. The training is usually pretty intense. But the purpose is to give officers the mind-set that enables them to act immediately and appropriately in given situations.

The Apostle Paul describes the fact that as believers we are privileged to have the mind of Christ. Stop and think about that. With the mind of Christ, we can see the Lord’s hand in life’s circumstances. We can know that there is more than meets the eye.

Paul wrote to his friends who were as yet immature believers, lacking spiritual insight. So naturally, his words are for us as well. He is saying that when you know Christ, His sacrifice, His resurrection, His forgiveness of sin, and His great love, you have the mind of Christ. We’ll be exploring this theme throughout the month.

Police training sessions instill an ability to respond to emergencies. As Christians, our ability to respond to the world around us comes by saturating our minds with Jesus and His Word.
