“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

My husband has an impressive sense of direction. I, on the other hand, am what you call “directionally challenged.” I rely heavily on my cell phone’s GPS with step.by-step instructions to get me to my destination.

The Bible calls followers of Jesus Christ “aliens and strangers on earth” (Hebrews 11:13). As children of God, we must recognize that this world is not our home. We’re pilgrims passing through a strange land, moving each day closer to heaven. God has provided a trustworthy map—His Word—to guide and direct us along the way. He has given us a most assuring promise in Psalm 32:8: “I will guide you along the best pathway for life. I will advise you and watch over you” (New Living Translation). Do you listen to what the Lord is advising you? Do you trust Him to show you the way? Did you know He’s watching over you?

A man traveling in a foreign country doesn’t throw away the map that guides him. Neither should we toss aside the Bible, given to us by God and instilled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
