“The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.”

Psalm 116:5
It was a Sunday, and Charles and I were worshipping in a church we’d never been to before. Already a year had gone by since our son Jeff had taken his life. In fact, it was one year to the day. We didn’t know a soul in the pews, but when we introduced ourselves to the man next to us, he held my hand and said, “Oh, this is a hard day for you.” He had heard the radio programs the year before and remembered the date. His kindness extended to us brought a fresh wave of God’s care and peace. We knew we would not be taking this journey of grief alone. Though Charles and I had been pushing through the anguish to keep Haven’s ministry to others going, we were the ones who now were being blessed.
Remember that the Lord is sovereign in His love for each one of His children. He arranges sweet serendipities to show us how intimately involved He is in our lives. Keep your eyes open for the ways He is graciously reaching out to you. The Lord allowed a stranger to know our hearts and extend His compassion to us. He may do the same for you.
