“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6
The Advent message is for you, just as much as it was for the shepherds 2,000 years ago. They heard the angels praising God, but you know the rest of the story. On this side of the cross, we look with delight and wonder on what initially was cause for much fear.

Do you ever wish for a word from the Lord as unmistakable as that angel proclamation outside of Bethlehem? Do you long to hear God’s message louder than any news broadcast or media outlet? God doesn’t usually work that way. Until Christ returns with stunning glory and trumpet blasts, He doesn’t compete with the noise and confusion of modern life. He calls us out of it, to a quiet hillside, to reveal Himself. That was part of the shepherds’ experience, too. Magnificent and glorious as it was, He sent the angels to them in the still and quiet, when they were able to hear and inclined to follow.

Can you hear the call of the Lord on your life? He is urging you to seek the Christ child and follow Him into lasting peace, joy, and salvation.
