“So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.”

Matthew 28:8
Wouldn’t you love to have been there to see the look of triumph in Jesus’ eyes as He stepped out of that tomb and looked toward heaven into the loving eyes of His Father? Oh, the joy that look would have held! Or to hear His compassion as He spoke her name, “Mary.” Imagine the joy on Mary’s face as she ran to tell the others, “He’s alive, He’s alive! I just saw Him in the garden!” That room of grief and mourning had burst into joy and hope. “Can it be true? Remember, He said ‘after three days’!”

Picture in your mind Peter and John running as fast as they could. There’d been angels, an empty tomb, a discarded grave cloth, confusion. And then as they gathered back together with growing excitement, there was Jesus! His first words: “Do not be afraid.” Oh, the joy!

No matter what is happening in the world around us, we can face what comes our way because nothing can keep out the One who brings true joy when we are at our lowest. No grave, no locked door, no guilt, no grief, no fear… it was all nailed to the cross with Him.
