“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”

Psalm 84:11-12
Have you ever had plans that came crashing down, only to realize later that it was a bullet dodged rather than an opportunity missed? Or have you ever been in an unpleasant season of life that was fruitful later on?

Psalm 84 says that the Lord will withhold no good thing from those whose walk is blameless. Amazingly, the Christian can rest assured that our walk is upright. Not because of ourselves, but because Christ has covered over our sins and made us new.

If our walk is blameless, then why is it that the good things we desire in this life don’t come to pass? Children who follow the Lord, a Christ-centered marriage, a comfortable income … these are all things that are blessings. They are good gifts from the Lord, yet they are gifts that many will never receive.

Recognizing this forces us to acknowledge that whatever we thought we needed may not have been so good for us after all. When your earthly desires are unmet, trust even more in your Savior who knows what is best for you and will provide in His perfect time.
