“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:19-20a
In the Old Testament, Isaiah prophesied that the Savior would “swallow up death for all time” (25:8), and Hosea prophesied that the Savior would “conquer death” (13:14).

Jesus Himself proclaimed that He was in control of His own death, saying He would lay His life down of His own accord (see John 10:18).

Jesus’ resurrection from the dead declared Him to be the Son of God in power (see Romans 1:4), giving Him unmatched authority.

Here is how the Great Commission fits into it: “There is nothing outside the authority of Jesus. He has the right and power to demand allegiance from every soul that exists. As the Lord of the Universe, Jesus demands that everyone from every nation and every religion be his disciple” (John Piper, 2011). Because of this, His command in the Great Commission to share the gospel to all the nations is a call for us to speak the gospel to those who wouldn’t otherwise have an opportunity to hear the good news.

Friend, the Lord has claimed you for His own. Now you can faithfully proclaim the gospel to others!
