“As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.'”

Romans 3:10-11
In Romans 3, Paul teaches that every person is sinful and needs the good news of the gospel message. Everyone—without any exception and without any loophole to get out—is sinful. We must all be made right with God. Promptly after describing our sinful condition, Paul turns to three verses that beautifully summarize the truth of the gospel: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood” (vv. 23-25).

Pastor and writer C.J. Mahaney explains why our need for the gospel opens the door to share the good news of what God has done: “Only when we hear the bad news that we’re deserving of judgment can we appreciate the good news that God, through his Son, has provided salvation and full continuing forgiveness for our sins. Only those who are aware of God’s wrath are amazed at God’s grace” (2006).

You and I need the gospel. And you and I cannot help but be amazed at His grace!
