“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Ephesians 5:1-2
Have you ever received a gift whose presentation left something to be desired? Maybe the tissue was crumpled or the bag clearly had been used many times over. You find yourself judging the contents based on the packaging, wondering if anything of much value could be contained there.
The shepherds weren’t concerned about outward appearances or presentation that first Christmas centuries ago. They weren’t put off by the long- awaited Messiah wrapped in nothing fancy at all and sheltered in a lowly stable. The depth of value contained in that repurposed manger can hardly be calculated!
But how do you present Jesus to the world? Are others drawn to Him when they come to know you? If your presentation of Him is careless and crumpled, will they even want to know what you have inside? Paul urges us to be imitators of God, letting our lives be a fragrant appeal to those around us who do not know Jesus. Present to the world our Savior who came here heralded by angels. Reflect on the outside all He has done for you on the inside!

Jesus, remove what does not reflect You well—sour attitudes, ugly words. You came humbly to save us from our sin. Thank you for our precious gift! Amen
