“Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.”

Colossians 4:12
Wherever I’ve served, God has given me many wonderful friends. I’m thinking of one police detective who would stop and ask me to ride with him for a few hours at night. While checking on the city, we’d find a quiet street, pull over, talk about life issues, and pray. We still talk by phone and often end our calls with prayer. We both have weathered storms and testify together that our God is faithful.

Paul ends his letter by citing greetings, affirmations, and instructions to and from several special friends. He names Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, Mark, Jesus/Justus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas, Nympha and Archippus. Just think … friends of the Apostle Paul! Each one mentioned has a special place in his life. A few visited him in prison though it was dangerous to befriend a prisoner. While chained to a Roman soldier, Paul knew he was not alone because he had Jesus and a host of faithful companions.

Thank God today for the friends He has placed in your life. Thank Him unendingly for our Friend who sticks closer than a brother: Jesus!
