“Then Queen Esther answered, ‘If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request.’”

Esther 7:3
As you learned yesterday, our God is a God who can and often does completely reverse “the plot” of our lives. He is the God who brings life from death and victory from defeat. In the Esther story, Mordecai was destined for death but instead was exalted. We should now expect the opposite to happen for Haman. The blow of judgment must now fall upon the accuser of God’s people, and God’s appointed advocate, Esther, will bring the blow to bear.

Esther accused Haman of treachery before the king and demanded both her life and that of her people. If King Xerxes was conflicted by having his two trusted advisors at cross purposes, his confusion is done away with when he catches Haman falling upon his queen. Thus, Haman finds his accursed end on the gallows which he intended for Mordecai.

Friends, Satan has already been overcome by the blood of the Lamb, but there will be a day in which King Jesus will finally accuse and condemn him once and for all. Don’t let Satan torment your soul today. His powers are constrained; his time is limited. Your Advocate reigns.
