You think that your problems can’t truly be understood by Jesus? You think He wouldn’t know what it’s like to deal with your addictions or your marital problems or your financial mess? You think, “Jesus doesn’t know cancer. Where in the Bible does it ever say Jesus was sick?” My friend, when the Word of God tells us our Savior made our salvation perfect through His suffering, you can believe it. When the Word of God tells us He has been tempted in every way, you can be certain of it.
Eugene Peterson in The Message gives us Hebrews 4:15-16 this way: “Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s … get … what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.”
He is not ashamed to call you brother or sister, despite your doubts and despite your giving into temptation. He is your stronghold; run to Him!
