“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19
With the stock market crash of 1929, the world saw the longest and most widespread depression of the 20th century. Putting food on the table was the highest priority. Unemployment lines grew long; banks failed; crop prices dropped; family incomes sunk by 40% or more.

It was during the Great Depression that Catherine Marshall was a young girl living in West Virginia. The daughter of a local pastor whose parish could provide only a meager salary, she longed to go to college, though there was little hope of that becoming a reality. Her mother, a woman of deep faith and prayer, encouraged her to entrust her desires to her heavenly Father. This unassuming woman prayed faithfully for a spirit of faith in her daughter. Provision came in unexpected ways, equipping Catherine to fulfill God’s calling on her life and become an influential Christian writer.

Listen to God’s leading in your heart. He can be trusted to meet all your needs. And since He has provided for us according to His riches in Jesus, we can step out in trust.
