"Therefore keep watch, because you do
not know the day or the hour."
(MATTHEW 25:13)

Matthew 25:1-13;
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Some favorite childhood memories are of going away to camp, but the one aspect of camp life that I intensely disliked was reveille. That seesawing racket would have been unwelcome any time it blasted away to wake me up and get me going, but it seemed to come in the middle of the night. I never felt ready for it. All I wanted to do was go back to sleep and to my
entertaining dreams.

When the trumpet call of God proclaims Christ’s return (1 Thessalonians 4:16), it will be a gloriously welcomed sound to everyone who is waiting expectantly for it. His arrival will signal our imminent departure to heaven with Him. It’s a call we don’t want to miss.

God continually gives us wake-up calls in the difficult events of our lives. These bring us to our knees in prayer and help us get ready for that day. Wake-up calls on earth give us a deeper longing for our heavenly home. It might be tempting to go back to sleep, but what you’ll experience in His presence will far exceed anything you could ever dream of.
