“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

Isaiah 61:1b
My eyes flooded with tears and profound sorrow washed over me when a beloved family member rejected me. The cruel words pierced my soul. My heart began beating rapidly. I was actually sick at heart and could not fix myself. What I needed was the hand of the Great Physician.

Then began the journey to healing as He sent His ministering servants. Acts of kindness, soothing words, and evidence of His concern surrounded me. The next day I walked into my church and was  met with an overwhelming sense of His presence. Every song and word brought balm to my wounds. The sermon, “Finding Perspective in Times of Testing,” opened my eyes to needed truth. Isaiah had prophesied about the One, Jesus, who would come to heal and restore. I tasted of that reality.

There has been restoration in my relationship, but by the power of God, forgiveness had already taken place in my heart before the request for it was made. When you go through negative experiences, remember that your encounter with the Living Christ along the way is of greatest value.
