“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God.”
Galatians 2:20
As a young man, I was deeply flawed and spiritually dead. Pride and worldly success were my gods. Then, fueled by anger and resentment, I stooped to the lowest point of my life and committed murder. In prison, the crushing shame and disgrace of my sins weighed on me like a ton of bricks.
But a chaplain spoke to me of God’s redeeming grace, saying that no one is beyond the reach of God’s mercy and forgiveness. That’s when everything changed for me. I confessed my sins and surrendered my heart to Jesus. I finally found peace and was “born again,” experiencing God’s unconditional love for the first time. Overwhelmed with gratitude, I received a new heart and mind as well as a desire to love and obey Him.
Praise God that He used prison to redeem and transform me! Moses, King David, and the Apostle Paul were murderers, too. Yet God brought something righteous out of their great evil. If God can transform a wretched, depraved sinner like me and declare me blameless, He can do the same for you, whatever the depth or depravity of your sin.
