“From infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 3:15
Our church was located in a farm community. One winter storm turned into a three-day blizzard labeled an “inland hurricane.” Winds drove the snow so mightily it came in under our garage door, took a 90° turn to the right, went under the main door and into the house, took another 90° turn to the left and went up the first three steps towards our upstairs! Conditions were far worse for farmers tending their livestock. They couldn’t see their barns; it was hazardous to walk outside. But all survived because the farmers had wisely placed ropes from their homes to their barns so they had something to hang on to as they went to and fro. Their wisdom led to security and life.

When the storms of life overwhelm, when there are no sunny skies and the way is unclear, when doubts set in or opposition rises up and threatens to knock you down, hold firmly to God’s Word. Remain true to what you’ve learned—Bible readings and hymns and songs you remember (perhaps from when you were just a child). God’s Word and wisdom will lead to security and life.

Insight

The rope must be in place before the storm hits. Connect to God’s Word when the weather is clear to have security in the storm.
