“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.”

Luke 24:27
The entire Bible points to the gospel and Jesus’ roll in God’s gospel plan. What I wouldn’t give to have been with those Christ followers on the road to Emmaus as Jesus explained it all in detail!

Jesus was promised immediately after Adam and Eve sinned (Genesis 3:15). The Bible prophesied that Jesus would be “pierced for our transgressions” (Isaiah 53:5-6). More than 700 years before Jesus’ birth, Micah prophesied that He would be born in Bethlehem (5:2). A thousand years before Jesus, David predicted His death by crucifixion and included such details of it as the dividing of Jesus’ garments and the casting of lots for His clothing (Psalm 22:16-18).

Later in that psalm David was moved to praise. “I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him!” (vv. 22-23)

When our eyes are opened to Jesus’ prominent place in the entire Bible and in the good news of our rescue from sin, we also are moved to give praise to our Risen Lord.
