“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…. Let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:24, 25b
Since my wife is from Colorado and loves its mountains and terrain, it took some convincing to get her to visit California’s Yosemite National Park. I wanted her to see that it was as magnificent as I claimed, so I took her to hike Half Dome, the very best the park has to offer.

When we arrived and made our way to the summit, she was both impressed and terrified. To finish the hike, you scramble up a granite dome using a set of cables. I assured her that it was safe, which she believed since I had gone up those cables many times before. I could encourage her to push through to the top.

Because Jesus is our faithful High Priest who has gone before the Father for us, we can draw near to God with the full assurance that faith in Him brings. Where we would be unsure of ourselves due to our sin and frailties, Jesus reassures us. He’s already made the perfect, sinless approach to God. Better than the climbing cables at the Half Dome summit, Jesus is our strong and certain Savior who gives us hope that never fails.
