“Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters …. I will sing a new song to you, O God.”

Psalm 144: 7, 9a
After our rescue from the Rock River boat accident (in yesterday’s devotional), we had a powerful story to tell. We told it enthusiastically, though the details of it have now faded over the years. God’s story of our spiritual rescue is even more awesome to describe, and it must never slip away.

Just think about it—He has rescued us from Satan’s grasp, the dominion of darkness, the shadows of doubt, and the pathways where we stumble. He has brought us instead to the kingdom of His Son, with confidence and hope in Christ alone.

Also consider this: our focus is on Jesus who is the light of the world. With new strength and boldness, we can punch holes in the darkness of this world for Him. The greater the darkness, the brighter our light shines.

And finally, remember that we are redeemed, moved from slavery to freedom, and washed clean through Jesus. “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm” (Galatians 5:1). We are in His grip, in the care of His Spirit living in us.

Now go tell your story of how He has rescued you!
