“He said to them, ‘Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself!’”

Luke 24:38-39
Although the journey of faith may have a dramatic or even somewhat mysterious beginning, we must then live it out in the context of ordinary life. And sometimes that can be very hard, as Jesus’ disciples knew and as we know also.

Brad found moving toward ministry as a profession to be arduous. Opportunities for serving seemed obscure. In a moment of despair, he confessed this to some trusted family members who prayed fervently on his behalf. That night he received a phone call from a pastor who was going to plant a church and had been asking the Lord to give him an intern when Brad’s name came to mind. It was almost as if Brad could hear echoes of the Lord’s words directed to him: “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise? It is I! I will show you the way.”

Those closest to Jesus lost hope after His crucifixion. Bewilderment dogged their thoughts. Then He appeared to them and made Himself plainly known to them. In doing so, He granted them peace, brought understanding, and promised the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
