“My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all.”

Psalm 71:15
Do you have an object which reminds you something or someone? I have an old wooden bowl of my grandma’s; I’ve kept a few pieces of artwork done by my kids when they were young. We treasure items like this—at least for a time—because they remind us of something important.

The writer of Psalm 71 speaks of remembering the righteous deeds he’d been shown by the Lord throughout his life—too many to even count! God’s people passed down the memory of His goodness to them through the ages. We, too, have an inclination to memorialize that which we’ve valued.

The 9/11 tragedy has sparked much of the same. “Most of the steel from the World Trade Center wreckage was sent to New Jersey salvage yards where it was broken down and sent all over the world for reuse. But nearly 350,000 tons of the steel was made into small and large scale tributes, including 7.5 tons for use in the navy battleship USS New York.”

As these displayed memorials guard the memory of 9/11, set up a forever-memorial in your heart of all the Lord has done for you.
