“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith… may result in praise… when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

1 Peter 1:6-7
The subject of trials and sufferings being ordained by God is not a popular one. We don’t mind attributing to God the blessings we find agreeable. But trials and griefs? Throughout the entire Bible, God uses adversity to strengthen the hearts of His followers. He works like a refiner of gold, purifying the faith of His people. And He does so out of deep love.
It’s like the father who takes his infant to the doctor for a shot. The child will yell and scream when the needle stings. But the father knows that within a few minutes the child will be cheerful again. And he did this for the best of the child. Your loving heavenly Father may allow the needle of life to sting you for a little while to prove the genuineness of your faith for His glory.
The people of Cuba have suffered much under communism for the last 60 years. Many have known only communism their whole lives. Yet when compared to eternity, the time is brief. If you’re in the midst of a trial, do not lose heart. God is building a masterpiece in you for eternity!
