“To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12
Love looked down and saw your need. Love, in the person of Jesus Christ, stooped to meet you where you are. He lived on earth within your limitations—teaching, healing, showing compassion, and reaching out to those separated from God. The Creator had come unto His own, but His own did not receive Him (see John 1:11). Unrecognized for who He was, ridiculed, accused, rejected, and finally killed, Jesus gave His life for them, for you, and for me.
The redemption operation was complete when Jesus cried out from the cross, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) Though the work of salvation was done, love hung on. The price had been paid, yet God waited lovingly for you to receive Him and put your trust in Him. He welcomed you into the family as His own child, the one He gave His life for. You could hear Him say, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).
When you tell a friend or family member that you received Jesus Christ as your Savior, remember to also declare, “And He has received me!”
