One of the greatest gifts a husband can give his wife is to be diligent to maintain his purity. Every day his eyes are assaulted with thumbnail images on news websites, pop-up ads, and myriad other inescapable conduits in our high-tech society. It’s our job and our privilege as husbands to do all we can to not be, as James says, “dragged away and enticed” (1:15). Ad blockers and web filtering software are a great help for accountability. But the two best resources are staying close to Jesus every day and having a wife or an elder Christian brother who will commit to pray faithfully with you about this.
Jesus sets prisoners free, including those who find themselves powerless to break from the shackles of looking at things that are dishonoring to God. Jesus changes everything for men and women who desire to be cleansed from even the most life-dominating of sins, forgiven fully, and healed forever. His grace and redemption have no limits. There is no place the Good Shepherd won’t go to rescue a sheep in danger.
