“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

2 Timothy 4:2
Before my stroke, I could focus like a laser on the most important matter while at the same time working on complex transactions. But now, post-stroke, I need notes and constant reminders to keep myself focused on just the important task at hand.

The same holds true for us as believers. We need to keep reminding ourselves of the marvelous truth of the gospel. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

The simplicity of being made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ can be lost or begin to fade because of our circumstances or preoccupations, or because of our natural desire to play a prominent role in our own salvation. We hear the relentless voice of the world telling us in various ways to live for ourselves and be the master of our own destinies. Consequently, we need to “preach” the truth of the gospel to ourselves daily.

Of all the things you can pump into your mind, keep filling it with the beauty of God’s perfect love for you.
