When I was younger, I wondered (with a grateful heart), “Why am I in this family?” Out of all the families in all history over the whole globe, why this family? I did nothing to decide on, desire or deserve them, but for reasons unknown to me, God ordained my earthly family at a time and place of His choosing.


God’s Word does tell us how and why you were placed in His family, though. First of all, you were adopted into God’s family in love, according to His pleasure and His will. In other words, He chose you because He loved you and it pleased Him to do so. You didn’t make Him want you in His family because you were cute or talented. You did not earn His love by being good. You did not desire Him because you were wise. Simply in love He adopted you freely, by His grace, His unmerited favor. Through faith in His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, you can know that glorious grace and praise Him! He sealed you with His Spirit as His own. In His love for you, He sent the One He loves for you. Praise God for His goodness!
