“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27
My parents are the primary caregivers for my sister. While they do not travel much, they did visit my brother in Wyoming for about a week. It was a great time for my parents, but it was a rather stressful and difficult period for my sister who does not understand time very well. In fact, she became physically sick because she was so far out of her normal routine. She was only finally relieved when our parents returned.

In a similar way, the disciples were anxious about where Jesus would go when He left them. Their limited understanding hindered them from seeing the bigger picture, but Jesus told them to be at peace because He would not desert them. He promised them that the Holy Spirit would come and guide them. What a comfort it would have been to hear those words of assurance.

Maybe you or a loved one is in a season of uncertainty. You may be anxious about what will happen next. Do not let worry or fear overcome you. The disciples were just as anxious and stressed. Trust that He has not abandoned you, and let His peace guard your heart.
