“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27
The earth has not known true peace since Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Since then, “every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time” (Genesis 6:5). Brothers fight against brothers, nations fight nations. And each of us at some point feels in our core the absence of peace.

If real peace came to earth, it would be an answer to the Lord’s prayer, that God’s kingdom would come, that His will would be done “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Jesus came to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth (Matthew 4:17), and He is its King.

So why don’t we see this kingdom and the peace that it brings? Jesus said it “is not something that can be observed” (Luke 17:20), and “no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3). We must surrender in faith to Him as King, and then “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). Do you know this divine peace? Is Jesus your King?
