“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you perceive it?”

Isaiah 43:18-19a
Although our calendar year starts with January, I have come to view September as a time of new beginnings. Labor Day marks the end of summer and the start of a different season. Cooler temperatures may accompany the changing of leaves from green to vibrant shades of red and gold. The school year begins for our children. Churches offer new programs and opportunities for connection. Even the bird population joins in as robins and bluebirds flee to warmer climates and the winter birds appear at the feeders.

The nation of Israel needed a message of renewal and hope during their years of captivity. They longed for a “new season.” The prophet Isaiah reminded them that God still cared and would make a way where there seemed to be no way. He brought encouragement for the present and then prophesied about the coming Messiah. There would be renewal in time!

Do you yearn for a new season of change? The Lord will provide a path of fresh opportunities for you in His good timing. Know that with each new day, He is indeed doing a new thing in your life.
