“To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability.”

Matthew 25:15
Jesus used everyday examples from life to teach the principles of His kingdom and to make clear how great His love is for His followers. Speaking about the management of resources helped His hearers grasp a deeper understanding of Jesus and His kingdom principles.

In our western culture, we understand investment and return and how they ensure some measure of prosperity and security. The Bible has much to say about money and provides needed wisdom for its proper place in our lives, not as the central focus. Relating Jesus’ stories and parables into our spiritual lives is necessary and enriching.

What has God given you that can be invested in His eternal kingdom? It is possible to fall into the trap like the man in the parable who, having only one talent, chose to hide it rather than use it and invest it. Furthermore, it is easy for you and me to be impressed by the talents of others and then hesitate to use our own. When we freely give what we have for the sake of His kingdom, He multiplies the blessings for us and the receivers.
