“‘Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard … this, they followed Jesus. … ‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’ So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent the day with him.”

John 1:39
Jesus called His disciples out of their established way of life. Everything would be turned upside down when they left home and walked with Him, their curiosity turning to amazement as Jesus revealed Himself to be the Son of God. Would any of us have left all that was familiar to join with a hardly-known man like Jesus? Are our hearts inclined to sign on for the path of adventure that following Him is?

The extent of “adventures” for me growing up in a family of all girls usually involved reading books or at best exploring the woods behind our house. In marriage years later, my husband elevated my idea of “adventure” through our mountain climbing, biking, motorcycle rides, intriguing classes, alternate career paths, and new home locations.

But none of these compares with the adventure of following Jesus. Watch and see where the Lord takes you in service to Him … sharing your faith with a neighbor, joining a small group, discipling a new believer, serving at a food kitchen, etc. Try that adventurous path; He goes with you!
