“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Revelation 4:11
Our heavenly Father is an intentional lover of beauty, and of you and me. Our God-given curiosity and imagination invite us into mystery beyond what our eyes can see. He compels us to Himself by instilling in us His beauty-making creativity. What we fashion with paint and tools delights us and beckons others to be curious about God.

One evidence of His artistry can be seen if you hike in the Sierra Nevada Mountains above the treeline. There are majestic views in all directions but hardly any vegetation. In midsummer, though, you may experience the spectacular, unexpected beauty of the sky pilot flower.

This wildflower blooms on solitary rock faces with little to no soil, withstanding ravaging winds and extreme temperatures. How? By God’s design. Why? Because our Lord loves beauty and us. This brilliant, lavender-blue flower brings heavenly color and scents to the jagged peaks. It tells of intelligent, perfect design, of complete provision and protection, and of God’s delight in beauty, moving us to anticipate our eternal home in heaven.
