“God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’”

Hebrews 13:5b-6
I moved from a Christian school to a public school in sixth grade. Soon after, my science teacher asked, “How many of you believe God created the world?” I quickly raised my hand and was embarrassed to find I was the only one. Some kids might have been proud to stand out, but I just wanted to be like everyone else. Immediately, I regretted being honest.

Sometimes people-pleasing stems from the fear of being alone. There are times when we compromise what we know to be true because we’re afraid that we’ll be rejected and unloved.

What overcomes this fear? It’s God’s promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

You and I need a place to belong. But if we look for ultimate belonging in people, we will always be disappointed. God will never reject or abandon you. Our sin did separate us from Him, but Jesus suffered the punishment for it on the cross. When you trust in Christ, God adopts you as His beloved child. He is your Father, and you are His child. You need not fear being left alone. Honor Him in all you do.
