“Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.”

John 15:20
Recently, I shared the gospel with a woman I know. She listened genuinely and respected my beliefs. But she isn’t interested in knowing Jesus as her Savior.

Have you had experiences like this? Even when the Lord gives me the courage to share the gospel with someone, they often don’t want to become Christians. From my vantage point, it can be discouraging.

Jesus gave insight into what is happening. He told His disciples they would continue His work by preaching the gospel to the whole world. He said that their experience would be just like His: Some would believe; others would not. If people who heard the gospel from Jesus Himself rejected it, why do I think people will always believe when I proclaim it? Jesus said it would be this way.

He also promised that some would believe. We bring the message, but God pursues. Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit would come to convict those who heard the message. He is still doing that work in the world today. The friend or loved one you speak with may yet believe.
