“Do not be anxious about anything, but… by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7
At any given moment I have countless anxieties. Will my children grow up to follow the Lord? Will I survive that root canal? Will the world descend into anarchy? How long will this pandemic last? A person really wonders what to do with all that worry. We pray, and we are promised God’s peace.

Paul writes that we can take every situation to God. Because Jesus’ death provided forgiveness, you have access to God’s throne. Moreover, in Christ you approach Him as your Father. Like a loving dad, He wants to hear all of your requests, big and small.

The end result of your prayer is God’s promised peace. This is the peace that comes when you know He hears your prayers. His response is sometimes mysterious. His response may not be what you want. But Scripture assures you it always glorifies Him and is for your good.

Be at peace knowing you are not alone. Let your heart overflow with thanksgiving. The Lord is with you. And He’s coming again to make all things new. That kind of peace frees you to love and serve Him today.
