“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”

2 Peter 1:3
Perhaps you too remember a Sunday school song from your childhood about the creation of flowers. “O, who can make a flower?/ I’m sure it can’t be you./ O, who can make a flower?/ Only God can do, that’s true” (Grace W. Owens, 1926). It’s simple but profound. The Creator of all life has given us countless gifts in creation, each flower a varied and lovely reminder of His existence and availability.

Not only do we have the physical floral display in nature as evidence of Him, but we also have the flowering of our souls from His blessings. In 1972 Andraé Crouch released a song called “My Tribute” that expresses this well. “How can I say thanks/ for the things You have done for me?/ Things so underserved,/ yet You gave to prove Your love for me;/ the voices of a million angels/ could not express my gratitude./ All that I have and ever hope to be,/ I owe it all to Thee.”

Consider the lilies of the field. Be amazed that the marvelous wonders of our world are but dim shadows of what awaits us in eternity one day.
