“Continue in what you have learned… how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:14-15

Sitting in a pastoral leadership conference, I expected to hear words of instruction. Instead, the lights were dimmed and a slideshow of the speaker’s family pictures appeared. The accompanying music was Bill Gaither’s “We Are Standing on Holy Ground.” There was a sense of the presence of the Lord; tears were shed; we saw ordinary daily events in the framework of holiness. You could see God was at the center of their lives.

Timothy was a disciple of the apostle Paul, but he also had a godly mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois (2 Timothy 1:5). These two women had imparted faith to Timothy from his very youngest years. Their attentiveness gave him the foundation he’d need to be a co-laborer spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You may have the privilege of being with children in various settings. Passing on your faith to them is an extraordinary opportunity, one which often requires slowing down and taking time. When you do, daily life—yours and theirs—will be transformed in a way that will have lasting effects.
