"Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his... So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth."
(MALACHI 2:15)

Ephesians 5:29-32

Several people told me that the marriage ceremony wouldn’t seem like it had changed me – I would still be the same sinful person after I left the altar. But even knowing this didn’t prepare me for what it felt like to be married those first few hours. I had a ring on my finger and had vowed very serious things before God, but when I stood in front of the man I just recently had not been married to, I didn’t really know what
“married” meant.

Scripture tells us we that have been united to Christ – the Church and Christ are now one flesh. Everything that is Christ’s is now ours: His inheritance, His power, His righteousness. Paul tells us that “our old self was crucified” with Christ and that you must “count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:6, 11). This does not mean we do not still sin, but rather that God sees only Christ. “He cannot sin; and He can keep me from sinning,” as Hudson Taylor wrote. What comfort that Christ sees us and cares tenderly for us as for His
own body.
