“You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason... I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

John 18:37
On our first attempt to climb Mt. Whitney, our group was understandably a bit nervous, particularly about properly assessing weather forecasts at such high elevations. At the trailhead the day before the hike, we met a man named “Crazy Jack.” He proudly told us he’d just completed this hike for the 156th time! When we asked him what he thought regarding the next day’s weather, he replied, “No one ever really knows what’s happening up there at any given moment. You’ll just have to find out along the way!”

Thankfully, in seeking after truth in Jesus Christ, we don’t have to just find out along the way. He has made it perfectly clear to us what truth is. When Pilate asks his famous “What is truth?” rhetorical question, Jesus’ response is stunning. He tells Pilate that the entire reason He was born is to testify to the truth—Himself!

Jesus reveals to all of humanity that He is the King of Truth and the source of life and redemption. The Scriptures testify to this so that in believing, we may have eternal life.
