Even when I am completely by myself in solitary confinement, I know that I am not alone. Right here where I am, the Lord is ‘my light and my salvation’ (v.1); He is the One who ‘will keep me safe in his dwelling’ (v.5); He has ‘been my helper’ (v. 9); and He will let me ‘see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living’ (v. 13) in His good timing.”
This beautiful psalm of David has encouraged readers throughout the centuries to “wait for the LORD” and to “be strong and take heart” (v. 14). You are not alone when the Lord, the stronghold of your life, is near.
