“Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.”

Psalm 27:10
There may be a situation in your life which leaves you feeling completely alone in the world. It may have started when you were very young, and it may have followed you into adulthood. When the world’s remedies and diversions offer only a quick fix, where does a person go for lasting comfort? To Jesus Himself.

“Psalm 27 has meant a lot to me because it assures me that I have someone to protect me, to pick me up when I fall, and to keep me from all evil. Even when I am completely by myself in solitary confinement, I know that I am not alone. Right here where I am, the Lord is ‘my light and my salvation’ (v.1); He is the One who ‘will keep me safe in his dwelling’ (v.5); He has ‘been my helper’ (v. 9); and He will let me ‘see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living’ (v. 13) in His good timing.”

This beautiful psalm of David has encouraged readers throughout the centuries to “wait for the LORD” and to “be strong and take heart” (v. 14). You are not alone when the Lord, the stronghold of your life, is near.
