“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”

Romans 11:33-34
We have perhaps derived some clarity this month by touching on several concepts that Christian believers ought to know. Still, there are parts of our faith that can only be described as mysteries, a term the Apostle Paul himself used (see 1 Corinthians 4:1).

For example, we wrestle to comprehend a God who is three in one, fully God and fully man. What appear to be paradoxes or unanswered questions are the mysteries and wonders of our unfathomable God, a God beyond our comprehension, yet One who made Himself small and dwelt among us.

For secular thinkers, the “contradictions” seem like divine cop-outs. But there should always be a place for mystery in the life of the believer. “Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?” (Job 11:7)

Our minds are finite; we are not God. There will always come a point when we reach ineffable truths that defy explanation. When that happens, rest in the knowledge that even though you do not know the answers to all of the mysteries of God, you are fully known by Him.
