“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9
While driving in the car one day in late 2017, I heard a HAVEN Today radio broadcast announce its upcoming Spanish-language program to be launched in Cuba. I myself had made trips to this Caribbean island, bringing the hope of Jesus to its people. Cuba is large, but I suspected that the Haven Ministries team and I would know the same people. More importantly, I was certain we knew the same Jesus!
Since then, I have been able to connect with and encourage the El Faro de Redenci (Redemption Lighthouse) team. The country of Cuba has been a focus of this month’s Anchor, in part to heighten your own awareness of fellow believers there, many who’ve never heard the truth of the gospel before.
Reaching Cuba for Christ may have seemed as formidable as Joshua’s task of leading the Israelites to the Promise Land. Have you felt intimidated as you try to shine the light of Christ on a family member, neighbor, or friend? Remember the words Joshua was charged with repeatedly: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord is with you.”
