“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.”

1 Corinthians 12:12
Some of us may feel the gifts we have are unimportant and inferior to others’. Or we might feel our gifts are superior and most important. Wherever we fall, we need this teaching: just as the human body must have diversity, so the members of Christ’s body have diverse and indispensable gifts which, functioning together, bring many to salvation.

Our prisoner-contributor reflected on this. “I always tried to fit in to what I thought was good for me while growing up. I went out of my way to please others. But what I could give them was never enough. Once the Lord saved me, I realized that the body of believers is one ‘big family,’ complementing each other. Whatever my offering or ability may be, it can complete what my brothers and sisters in Christ will do.

“I have found the unity in Christ to be amazing. Even here in prison, we all look out for each other. The love the brothers have for each other is genuinely from God. In fact, it’s what enticed me, once a follower of many things, to follow the One who truly loves me.”
