“May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.”

2 Thessalonians 3:5
What do you do when you’re feeling weak, tired, and at the end of your rope? Do you look to the Lord? The world may tell you to search your own heart and find the power within yourself to prevail. But Paul prays that God would direct his friends’ hearts to God and to the steadfastness of Christ. Even when we are not faithful, we run to the One who is. This is the great news of our salvation!

Children of loving parents experience this all the time. When they are sick, their parents care for them. Parents will feed their children, help them walk, calm them down, put them to bed. As a child, it’s a blessing to know that always with you are arms that are stronger than yours, wisdom that is greater than yours, and love that is unchanging.

If this can be true for human parents, how much more so of our heavenly Father? Look to Him whether you are tired, persecuted, sick, or in sin. And “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
