“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Psalm 63:1
Dr. Miguel is a medical doctor in one of the provinces of Cuba. Every morning he experiences God’s presence while riding his bicycle for miles to visit patients in their homes. He carries a backpack with all the instruments and medicine he’ll need.
Switch to an entirely different-looking image in your mind: David in the wilderness of Judah. He probably wrote Psalm 63 while fleeing from King Saul or from his son, Absalom, and while longing for God’s presence and protection. Neither David nor my friend Dr. Miguel enjoyed the luxuries of life. However, both men showed a yearning and longing for God. They found Him even in life’s difficulties, praising God in the midst of it. David demonstrated that in times of uncertainty, the faithful follower should praise God, meditate on His Word, and cling to Him.
In the mundane routines of the day, are you longing to praise Him? Yearning to meditate on His Word? Desperately clinging to Jesus? He promises, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
