“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:33-34
Ten years ago Haven Ministries’ speaker Charles Morris broadcast these words which remain relevant for us today:

“How should we as believers live in a post-9/11 world? According to Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, we should live as sons and daughters of our Father in heaven. His entire sermon from Matthew 5-7 is all about how to live as sons of God. Underlying the sermon is the beautiful reality that we are children of the living God. He’s loved us and called us as His own through Jesus. And Jesus isn’t telling us to earn this relationship by keeping His commandments. He has earned it for us already. We have received the full rights of sonship.”

In a post-9/11 world, we let our light shine before men to the praise of our Father (Matthew 5:16); we pray for our enemies that we may be sons of our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:45); we seek to be perfect in loving others even as our heavenly Father is perfect (Matthew 5:48); we take all of our prayers to our Father who knows what we need before we even ask (Matthew 6:6-8).
