“Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, ‘Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.’”

Mark 7:14
In this chapter Jesus rebukes the Pharisees and scribes for having elevated their man-made traditions and rules above the Word of God. We read how He calls the whole crowd of people near to publicly correct the errors of the Pharisees— errors all of us make, really. He speaks about what truly makes a person defiled. It’s not so much the outward things we feed on, but the inward defilements of our heart that pour out. Jesus’ call to listen and understand is a powerful statement.
His words can be read as an invitation, a command, and a declaration of eternal truth. Even in our day, He invites everyone to gather around to listen to Him. Those who do are not only made wiser, but also they are born again. When the Creator and Lord commands His creation to do something, they must obey. He declares with authority that the Christ has come. All who go to Him for truth will find it because He is truth (John 14:6).
When you receive His invitation, obey His command, and listen to His declaration of truth, He changes everything!
