"But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child
is my soul within me."
In the same way, the Christian believer has no reason for discontentment. All that our hearts long for find satisfaction in Christ. We have been forgiven and adopted into God’s family (Ephesians 1:5-7). Christ’s righteousness has been credited to our account (2 Corinthians 5:21). We have value beyond reckoning (Matthew 5:26). Our souls will never hunger or thirst again (John 4:14; John 6:35). All of this is ours in Christ because of what He accomplished on our behalf.
We find contentment when our souls can truly say, “It’s not about me; it’s all about Jesus.”
GODLY CONTENTMENT IS OFTEN REGARDED AS A "RARE JEWEL" AMONG CHRISTIANS. IT CANNOT BE QUICKLY GAINED. RATHER, IT IS A BYPRODUCT OF DAILY ABIDING IN CHRIST.
