“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45
We are all leaders, in one way or another. Good leaders are well-equipped. What army would want to follow a captain who didn’t have his act together? Perhaps God has placed you as a leader over someone. If you are a parent, your followers are your children. If you are a teacher, your followers are your students. If you are an employer, your followers are your workers. As a Christian, your followers could be anyone seeing how you live out your faith.
Whatever kind of leadership situation you are in, the thing that will speak louder than any number of “habits of highly effective leaders” is something the world wouldn’t expect. It’s servanthood. When the King of all creation came down to this earth at what we call the first Christmas, He came taking on the form of a servant.
My kids watch what I do as a leader in our home—the good things and the bad! But they also watch how I serve them and their father, leading by serving. What a gift we have been given, that our Leader came to serve us and to give His life for us.
